Eco friendly and Sustainable materials
30th October 2015
Nature gives us many valuable resources for creating beautiful design pieces. As these materials are limited people also have created many more artificial ones which unfortunately often harm the nature and are not bio degradable or recyclable.
We all want to create the best living conditions for our children so we need to change direction and go for materials that are sustainable, easily recyclable and eco-friendly.
Fortunately the awareness of this need is rapidly growing and it finally penetrates into the living room: we are longing for modern timeless items, architectural shapes and trans seasonal fabrics in long lasting qualities. The on-going orientation of buying convertible products, fair trade, eco-friendly stains, reusable materials is a good expression of our concern about nature. Upcycling, repurposing and reinventing ere all things that customers are considering while making purchases today.
Here we present you some eco-friendly materials that can be widely used in our home and office.
RECYCLED GLASS COUNTERTOPS
Everyone has fallen in love with the classy appearance of stone countertops – especially marble and granite. However, quarrying and engineering these materials aren’t exactly friendly on the environment. To achieve the same look, consider recycled glass counters. These beautiful and sustainable countertops are usually fashioned from recycled jars and bottles, and give your home a luxurious and unique touch.
CORK FLOORING – Polished wood flooring looks great, but isn’t exactly the most sustainable option. However, cork flooring is a great alternative. In addition to being moisture, fire and mold resistant, it’s also derived from the bark of cork oak trees without requiring the tree to be chopped down. Cork can be laid in a variety of patterns and will give your home added character and charm.
Some floors can be a combination of cork and rubber, both materials are eco-friendly and renewable. These floors offer extra slip resistance using the natural texture by the added cork. These floors are also more durable than solid rubber floors.
CARPET TILES – Area rugs are a necessary investment for nearly every home, but its east to become bored with the style or pattern. Modular carpet tiles, however, allow homeowners to mix and match tiles into various designs. You can rearrange or add tiles at any time, and most manufacturers also have a recycling program. Best of all, they’re made in energy efficient facilities and often made from recycled materials. Carpet tends to feel much softer when you know it came from a healthy place.
As a forward thinking and fast developing company we are always trying to use the best possible materials. In the design process our team is constantly aiming to incorporate more new eco-friendly and sustainable solutions for your home and office space.
